Google has introduced a new AI Mode for shopping that enhances the online shopping experience with advanced visuals, smart guidance, and reliable product data. This mode integrates Gemini capabilities with Google's extensive Shopping Graph, which contains over 50 billion product listings refreshed hourly, to help users find inspiration, narrow down choices, and make informed decisions.
AI Mode Shopping Features
AI Mode offers a personalized browsing experience by showing visually appealing product panels tailored to user preferences. It can perform simultaneous searches (query fan-out) to refine product suggestions based on specific needs, such as weather suitability or travel requirements. This dynamic interface updates in real-time, helping shoppers discover relevant products and brands. These features will be available in the U.S. soon.
Agentic Checkout for Price Tracking and Easy Purchase
Once users decide on a product, the new agentic checkout feature allows them to track prices by setting preferences like size, color, and budget. When a price drop occurs, shoppers receive notifications and can complete purchases seamlessly through Google Pay, with Google handling cart addition and checkout securely on the merchant’s site. This feature will also roll out in the U.S. in the coming months.
Virtual Try-On Using Personal Photos
Addressing the challenge of visualizing clothing online, Google’s virtual try-on technology lets shoppers upload a photo of themselves to virtually try on billions of apparel items from the Shopping Graph. Powered by a custom image generation model, it accurately represents how different fabrics and styles fit and drape on the user’s body and pose. This feature is launching in Search Labs in the U.S., allowing users to try on shirts, pants, skirts, and dresses, save looks, or share them for feedback.
Together, these innovations aim to make online shopping more interactive, personalized, and convenient by combining AI-driven search, price tracking, and immersive virtual try-on capabilities.
