AI Mode in Search is gaining new agentic features and expanding globally to enhance user assistance and personalization. These updates enable Google to perform more tasks on users' behalf and deliver tailored responses based on individual interests.
Agentic Capabilities for Task Completion
AI Mode now includes advanced agentic functions that help users accomplish tasks more efficiently. Initially rolling out in the U.S. for Google AI Ultra subscribers, it can find restaurant reservations by considering multiple preferences such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine. AI Mode searches across various reservation platforms like OpenTable, Resy, and Tock, providing real-time availability and direct booking links. This feature will soon extend to local service appointments and event ticket bookings, leveraging live web browsing (Project Mariner), partner integrations, Google Knowledge Graph, and Google Maps.
Personalized Recommendations
Users in the U.S. who opt into the AI Mode experiment receive personalized dining recommendations based on their past searches and preferences. For example, if a user prefers Italian food, plant-based meals, or outdoor seating, AI Mode tailors suggestions accordingly. Users maintain control over their personalization settings through their Google Account.
Collaborative Exploration
AI Mode introduces a link-sharing feature allowing users to share AI-generated responses with friends and family. Recipients can continue the conversation and explore further, facilitating collaboration on activities like trip planning or event organization. The original sharer controls and can delete shared links anytime.
Global Expansion
AI Mode, praised for handling complex queries, is now available in over 180 new countries and territories in English, in addition to the U.S., India, and the UK. This expansion enables more users worldwide to benefit from nuanced, AI-powered search experiences, with plans to support additional languages and regions in the future.
