A recent survey by Botify reveals the growing acceptance of AI-powered search engines among consumers. The survey, conducted by Dynata, involved 1,000 US respondents aged 18 and above.
Key findings include:
- 44% of respondents are familiar with generative search. This familiarity is higher among Millennials and Gen Z at 58%, while 74% of Baby Boomers are unfamiliar with it.
- 37% have tried an AI-driven search engine and found the results more satisfying.
- 34% stated that their search behavior hasn't changed with AI Search, 28% make more detailed search queries, and 9% write longer prompts.
- 56% preferred AI-generated results over traditional search results when given a choice.
- 41% use AI search primarily for online shopping, followed by keeping up with the latest news (19%) and seeking health-related information (12%).
- A majority (55%) believe that search engines incorporating AI-generated results can facilitate easier discovery of products and services.
- While 36% haven't used AI search, 25% have, mainly to test the new technology. 17% use AI-powered search as the chatbot-style results help them find answers faster.
The survey underscores that user behavior changes slowly, indicating a gradual transition from Classic Search to AI Search.
