OpenAI has launched a beta version of scheduled tasks for ChatGPT, introducing automation capabilities that allow users to schedule future interactions with the AI assistant. This new feature is currently available to Plus, Pro, and Teams subscribers.
Platform Availability
The scheduled tasks feature is accessible across multiple platforms:
- ChatGPT Web
- iOS
- Android
- MacOS
- Windows app support planned for Q1
Core Functionality
The new scheduling system operates autonomously, executing tasks regardless of user online status. Users can create tasks through two primary methods:
- Direct chat interface
- Dedicated tasks page in the profile menu
The system notifies users of completed tasks through push notifications and email alerts.
Task Types and Applications
During this early beta phase, ChatGPT can handle various automated prompts including:
- Daily language practice sessions
- Customized news briefings
- Personal reminders
- Regular workout routines
The system supports both one-time and recurring task schedules, offering flexibility in automation timing and frequency. Tasks can be created either through specific time scheduling or through the user interface.
OpenAI plans to expand this functionality to all ChatGPT account holders following the beta phase, marking a significant step toward automated AI assistance.
