YouTube Tests Subscription Sorting, Improved Upload Flow for ‘Members Only’ Shorts

The 'Most Relevant' display within the Subscriptions tab on YouTube is a new feature that the platform is testing. It is designed to help users find the latest updates from the channels they are most interested in. This feed is algorithmically sorted based on a range of engagement factors, such as how frequently and/or recently a user has interacted with content from the channels they subscribe to. The goal is to display the channels that a user engages with the most, making it easier for those subscribed to many creators to find content they are likely to want to see.

To use YouTube's 'Most Relevant' view for Subscriptions, if you are part of the experiment, you can simply select the chip or avatar that says 'Most Relevant'. Once selected, your feed will update to show you content from the Subscriptions you watch most often or you've interacted with recently. This is an optional setting, and users who prefer the regular Subscriptions feed display can continue using the default setting.

To upload 'Members-Only' Shorts on YouTube, creators can now use the improved upload flow that has been added into the Shorts upload process. This can be found under the 'Visibility' listing during the upload. This update ensures that members receive a notification whenever a new members-only clip is uploaded, making the process more streamlined and integrated compared to the previous method where creators could only convert an existing Shorts clip to members-only after it was uploaded.

YouTube has stated that the 'Most Relevant' display and the improved upload flow for 'Members Only' Shorts are currently in the testing phase. The 'Most Relevant' display is being rolled out to a small percentage of viewers on mobile, and future expansion will depend on the feedback received.
