The popularity of short-form videos has been notable in recent years, but long-form videos are making a significant comeback. Data from Tubular Labs shows that the number of videos over 20 minutes long uploaded to YouTube each month has risen dramatically, from 1.3 million in July 2022 to 8.5 million in June 2024.
This increase is partly due to YouTube’s expanding viewership on connected TV screens. Creators like Charlotte Dobre and MissDarcei are producing longer content, and even short-form video creators such as Alan Chikin Chow, Sheena Melwani, and V Spehar are extending their video lengths beyond the typical sub-60-second format.
