YouTube is set to update its YouTube Partner Program (YPP) Monetization policies on July 15, 2025, aiming to restrict creators from earning revenue through “inauthentic” content. This includes mass-produced and repetitive videos, which have become easier to create with AI technology. While the exact policy wording is not yet published, the update will clarify what constitutes “inauthentic” content, reinforcing the longstanding requirement that creators upload “original” and “authentic” content.
Key Policy Updates
Monetization Guidelines: The updated guidelines will help creators better understand and identify mass-produced and repetitious content that is no longer eligible for monetization under YPP.
Ads Sensitive Categories: The sensitive category “Bare Skin (Image Only)” will be removed from YouTube Studio’s ad categories on July 15, 2025. Creators currently using this setting will have until August 15, 2025, before existing ad blocks under this category are disabled. Alternative categories like “Reference to Sex” can be used for more precise ad control.
These changes reflect YouTube’s effort to maintain content authenticity and improve ad category controls in response to evolving content creation methods, especially those leveraging AI.
