WhatsApp has launched its app for iPad, offering an integrated experience of the popular messaging platform on a larger screen. The app includes features such as video and audio calls with up to 32 people, screen sharing, and use of both front and back cameras. It supports iPadOS multitasking features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, enabling users to interact with multiple apps simultaneously. Compatibility with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil enhances usability.
The app employs WhatsApp's multi-device technology to keep messages, calls, and media synchronized across iPhone, Mac, and other devices while maintaining end-to-end encryption for privacy. Additional privacy features like chat lock allow private conversations even when sharing the iPad. The release marks the beginning of WhatsApp's presence on iPad, available now on the App Store.
Stage Manager support is limited to specific iPad Pro and iPad Air models.
