LinkedIn has introduced a new feature for its mobile app that allows users to reply to specific messages within a chat stream.
Previously available only on desktop, this feature can be activated by long pressing on a selected comment and choosing "Reply". The reply then appears in-stream below the specific comment, encouraging longer chats and providing context for each reply.
This update is part of LinkedIn's ongoing efforts to enhance its Direct Message (DM) offerings, aligning with the trend of users preferring private engagement over public posts. LinkedIn has introduced several new features to support this, including an AI assistant for InMails, AI-powered job application queries, and company page DMs. These tools aim to enhance the user's ability to maintain direct connections and improve their messaging experience on the platform.
Social Media Today also mentions that fewer people are posting to their public feeds and choosing instead to engage in private, and LinkedIn has added a range of new options to support this trend. The ability to respond to specific messages is another refinement that will help to improve the LinkedIn messaging experience.
