LinkedIn has introduced email-related analytics for LinkedIn Newsletters, which includes two new metrics on the Newsletter Analytics Page: Email Sends (the number of subscribers who received an email notification) and Email Open Rate (the percentage of subscribers who opened the email). This addition addresses a long-standing request from creators and marketers, who have been frustrated by the lack of email insights, often leading them to other newsletter platforms.
These basic metrics enhance understanding of newsletter performance via email, complementing existing data. Previously, creators had no visibility into how subscribers were notified about newsletters. For those using both LinkedIn and other platforms, these metrics allow for better comparisons with traditional email metrics.
The new analytics are not only beneficial for creators but also for brands and advertisers assessing influencer marketing effectiveness. However, LinkedIn still has significant improvements to make in its newsletter analytics, as the last update was in June. A major limitation remains the inability for creators to access subscriber email addresses due to LinkedIn's privacy policies, which restricts the platform from being a comprehensive newsletter solution. An opt-in feature for subscribers to share their emails with creators is suggested.
Despite considering moving away from LinkedIn Newsletters, the author emphasizes the importance of accessibility and continues to utilize both LinkedIn and another platform for newsletter distribution, hoping for further enhancements from LinkedIn in the future.
