To add personal details to ChatGPT's Memory, simply engage in conversation with the chatbot. ChatGPT will passively glean personal insights from the dialogue. You can also use direct prompts like Please remember that ... to explicitly tell the chatbot what details to store in its memory.

To remove or adjust information in ChatGPT's Memory, you can:

• Click on your username, navigate to Settings and Personalization, and then tap on the Manage button to see all the memories and select the trash can icon next to any memory you want to remove.

• Use the Clear ChatGPT's Memory option to start over with a clean slate.

• Request changes or deletions during your conversation with the chatbot using prompts like forget everything you remember from this chat or adjust my current city from San Francisco to Sacramento.

Privacy concerns with ChatGPT's Memory feature include apprehension over OpenAI storing personal information and the potential use of these details to improve future AI models. However, users can opt out from having their memories used for training future models while still using the Memory feature by adjusting settings in Data controls.

ChatGPT's Memory feature became available to Plus subscribers in late April 2024, after being announced in February and initially tested with a small group of users.
