Google has updated their server-side Google Tag Manager documentation, replacing the term "Immutable parameters" with "internal parameters". This change has made the list more manageable and less ambiguous.
Previously, the list of "Immutable parameters" included generic and potentially privacy-infringing parameters like device IDs and IP addresses. Now, only Google-specific parameters (prefixed with x-ga or x-sst) are listed as "Internal parameters".
It's important to note that modifying these "Internal parameters" could negatively affect your Google tags' data collection. Other parameters that Google uses, such as ip_override
, client_id
, page_location
, could also impact data collection if modified. However, these parameters are no longer referred to as "Immutable", implying that changes to them won't cause significant disruption.
