Google has launched a new Search Labs experiment called Daily Listen, which offers a daily audio overview of stories and topics of interest, lasting 5 minutes or less. This feature is similar to an audio version of the Google Discover feed and shares similarities with NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews and podcasts.
Daily Listen leverages user interests identified through Discover and Search to create personalized audio episodes. It will be accessible in the “Space” carousel beneath the Search bar in the Google app on Android and iOS. Users can tap the Daily Listen card, labeled “Made for you,” to open a fullscreen player.
The player, marked with the Gemini sparkle, includes a text transcript where cover art typically appears. Users can provide feedback via thumbs up/down, and the player features a scrubber for navigation, with controls for play/pause, 10-second rewind, next story, playback speed, and mute options for reading the transcript.
Additionally, users can scroll through “Related stories” for each section and have the option to “Search for more” or give feedback on their interests. The docked player remains visible at the top of the screen while browsing. Daily Listen is available for Android and iOS users in the US, with activation possible from the top-left corner of the Google app, and the first episode will appear within a day of activation.
