TikTok has introduced new features to enhance user experience and make connecting with friends easier. These updates include:
Direct Messaging Enhancements
- Group Chats: Users can now create group chats with up to 32 people to share and discuss content directly on TikTok. This feature aims to make TikTok more social, allowing users to watch, comment, and react together in real-time.
- Stickers: TikTok has introduced Stickers in Direct Messages, enabling users to create and send custom stickers, enhancing creative expression and visual communication.
Safety Measures for Teens
- Age Restrictions: Group Chat and Direct Messaging are not available for users aged 13 to 15.
- Controlled Access: Teens aged 16-17 can only join group chats if they include at least one mutual friend and must make a proactive decision to join. Teens creating group chats must review and approve new joiners.
- Safety Tools: Users can mute, block, and report messages or entire chats if content violates Community Guidelines. There are also limits on the number of groups one can create and the number of times a message can be forwarded.
TikTok aims to make its platform more social and a place for authentic connections, not just an entertainment platform. The new features are designed to enrich the TikTok experience and foster shared entertainment through genuine interactions.
