Meta for Education, launched in April 2024, is now publicly available, providing educators with access to mixed and virtual reality through Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon managed services. This initiative aims to enhance learning by offering immersive experiences that are otherwise inaccessible, allowing students to explore complex subjects like chemistry and history in engaging ways.
The educational benefits of mixed and virtual reality are significant. In 83 Inspired Education Group schools utilizing this technology, 90% of students reported increased engagement, and 85% of teachers found it valuable for enhancing instruction. Students also showed a 15% improvement in academic performance on assessments.
Meta for Education includes a Meta Quest headset and a subscription to Meta Horizon managed solutions, facilitating access to interactive content across various subjects such as science, history, and language arts. The program is built on the foundation of Meta's enterprise solutions and aims to transform educational experiences.
Through a beta program involving numerous colleges and universities in the US and UK, feedback indicated that virtual and mixed reality made educational content more memorable and helped educators convey complex concepts effectively. Dr. Sean Hauze from San Diego State University emphasized that this technology empowers students to engage with learning in ways that would otherwise be impossible. Meta for Education signifies a major advancement in educational technology, offering new immersive opportunities for interaction and engagement.
