Facebook is introducing new features powered by Meta AI to enhance self-expression in profile pictures, photos, Feed posts, and Stories.
Animate Your Profile Picture
Users can now animate their profile pictures with preset animations such as natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart. These animations turn still photos into playful moving images. Photos with a single person facing the camera work best. Animated profile pictures can be shared to the Feed and viewed on profiles. Additional animation options will be added throughout the year for seasonal and special events.
Restyle Stories and Memories
The Restyle feature allows users to transform the look of images in Facebook Stories and Memories using preset styles or custom text-based AI prompts. Options include styles like anime or illustrated, moods like glowy, lighting effects such as ethereal, color themes like cool or pink, and backdrops like beach or cityscape. Facebook will also recommend Memories with Restyle options for sharing.
Animated Backdrops for Text Posts
Text posts in the Feed can now include animated backdrops to make them more visually engaging. Users can select from various still and animated backgrounds, such as falling leaves or ocean waves, by tapping the rainbow A icon when creating a post. Seasonal backgrounds will be introduced later to add timely and festive effects.
These features aim to make it easier and more enjoyable to express personality and connect with friends on Facebook through creative and dynamic content.
