LinkedIn introduces the option to display a secondary name for profile verification, allowing users to show their ID name if it differs from their LinkedIn name. This feature is designed to verify identity using the name on a government-issued ID. Participation in this verification process is optional.
Users can choose to display their legal name alongside their LinkedIn name, which will appear in parentheses without replacing the LinkedIn name. This ID name will also be visible on secondary profiles in other languages, but it won’t be accessible to non-logged-in users or in public search results.
To add a legal name, users must select the option to display their ID name as an additional name on their profile. Once completed, a confirmation of identity verification will be provided. The ID name can be viewed during profile editing but cannot be changed or updated. Deleting the ID name will remove both the legal name and verification.
The legal name will be visible to all logged-in members but not on public profiles or to visitors not logged in. If identity verification is deleted, the legal name will also be removed from the profile.
