Google has implemented two important updates to Looker Studio, enhancing permission management and improving event logging capabilities.
Looker Gemini Permission Enforcement
The gemini_in_looker
permission is now being actively enforced within Looker. This permission, which is exclusively available through the Looker Gemini role, is required for users who wish to access and utilize Conversational Analytics features in the platform.
This enforcement represents a formalization of access controls around Looker's AI-powered analytics capabilities.
Enhanced Event Logging for Looker-Based Reports
Google has also upgraded the event logging system for Looker-based reports. When users download or export data from a Looker Studio report that utilizes at least one Looker data source, the connector type for all charts contained within the report will now be automatically included in the Looker Studio audit log.
This improvement provides administrators with more comprehensive tracking information, enhancing transparency and enabling better oversight of how report data is being accessed and utilized across organizations.
These updates reflect Google's ongoing commitment to refining Looker Studio's functionality while strengthening its security and administrative capabilities.
