ByteDance has appointed John Rogovin as Global General Counsel, overseeing TikTok. John previously served as General Counsel for Warner Bros. for over a decade, handling global legal matters including intellectual property, litigation, and regulatory compliance. His career also includes roles in private practice and public service, such as General Counsel of the US Federal Communications Commission and Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice.
ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo and TikTok CEO Shou Chew expressed their enthusiasm for John's extensive experience and leadership skills. John is eager to contribute to the company's mission of providing a platform for over two billion users to connect and share content. This appointment follows the announcement of departing General Counsel Erich Andersen, who will transition to a special counsel role.
Additionally, TikTok is celebrating its LGBTQIA+ community's creativity and advocacy, and continues to support creators through initiatives like TikTok Studio. The company is also enhancing its policies to counter influence attempts, including a new transparency report on state-affiliated media.
