YouTube has launched an experimental feature enabling creators to extract and publish engaging segments from their long-form content as standalone 16:9 videos.
The new 'Create a video highlight' option appears within the video editor tool in YouTube Studio Desktop. This functionality allows creators to efficiently repurpose their existing content by isolating specific segments of interest.
Current Availability
The testing phase has been implemented with limited accessibility:
- Available to a small group of selected creators
- Currently restricted to English-language videos only
- Accessible exclusively through the desktop version of YouTube Studio
Implementation Details
Creators participating in the experiment can access this feature directly from the video editor interface, enabling them to:
- Select specific segments from long-form content
- Extract these segments as independent videos
- Publish the extracted content in 16:9 format
This development represents YouTube's ongoing efforts to provide creators with more efficient content management tools and enhance their ability to maximize their video assets.
