YouTube is expanding its AI-generated chat topic sorting feature to live streams. Previously tested on regular uploads and Shorts, this feature groups comments into topics to help viewers quickly understand and participate in live chat discussions.

When a live stream has sufficient comment activity, a banner at the top of the chat will summarize key discussion points for those in the experiment group. This allows viewers to engage more easily without manually scrolling through all comments. Creators also benefit as it highlights popular discussion topics, aiding in future content planning.

Currently, the experiment is available to a small percentage of English-speaking viewers in highly active live chats.
