AdMob is introducing a new app-level setting for high-engagement ads in interstitial and rewarded formats, which will be available soon. This setting allows you to control ad experiences and optimize ad strategies for your apps, enhancing user engagement and ad performance.
High-Engagement Ads Features
- Interstitial Ads: Skippable no later than 15 seconds.
- Rewarded Ads: Skippable no later than 60 seconds, with rewards granted once skip time is reached.
- Exit Steps: Up to three steps to exit for both interstitial and rewarded ads.
By default, high-engagement ads are enabled for all apps.
Ad Experience Comparison
Rewarded Ads:
- Skip Time: Up to 30s (disabled) vs. Up to 60s (enabled)
- Exit Steps: Up to 1 step (disabled) vs. Up to 3 steps (enabled)
Interstitial Ads:
- Display Ads Skip Time: Up to 5s (both enabled and disabled)
- Video Ads Skip Time: Up to 5s (disabled) vs. Up to 15s (enabled)
- Exit Steps: Up to 2 steps (disabled) vs. Up to 3 steps (enabled)
Enabling High-Engagement Ads
To enable or disable high-engagement ads for your app:
- Sign in to your AdMob account.
- Click on "Apps" in the sidebar.
- Select your app or search for it under "View all apps".
- Go to "App settings" in the sidebar.
- Click "Edit" next to High-engagement ads.
- Toggle the "High-engagement ads" switch on or off.
- Click "Save".
High-engagement ads apply to all interstitial and rewarded ad units in an app but do not affect native or banner ad units.
