Perplexity has announced the upcoming launch of its new AI-powered web browser named Comet. The company has created a sign-up list for the browser, although details about its availability and design remain unclear. A spokesperson stated that Perplexity aims to "reinvent the browser" similar to how it has transformed search.
Comet will enter a competitive market filled with established browsers like Chrome and emerging alternatives, such as the AI-driven Dia browser from The Browser Company. Perplexity may leverage its existing search engine user base to gain traction in this crowded space.
Additionally, Perplexity is rapidly expanding its product offerings, having recently introduced a “deep research” product to compete with major players like OpenAI, Google, and xAI. Earlier in the year, the company launched an AI-powered assistant for Android and an API for AI search.
