Gemini can be used in the side panel of Google Slides in seven new languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. This feature allows users to generate images, summarize, brainstorm, and create content by leveraging insights from their emails and documents without switching applications.
Additional Details
- Users may notice an “Alpha” badge as new features are integrated into Gemini.
- Image generation of people is currently unsupported in these new languages.
Getting Started
- Admins: The default setting for Gemini features in Workspace is enabled. Management of AI feature access is available.
- End Users: The side panel operates in the language set in your Google account. For features only available in English, the account language must be set to English. Access the side panel by clicking “Ask Gemini” in the top right corner of Slides on the web.
Rollout Pace
- Rapid Release Domains: Gradual rollout starting March 5, 2025 (up to 15 days for visibility).
- Scheduled Release Domains: Gradual rollout starting March 10, 2025 (up to 15 days for visibility).
Availability
Gemini is available to Google Workspace users with the following plans:
- Business Standard and Plus
- Enterprise Standard and Plus
- Customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on
- Customers with the Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on
