UK Antitrust Regulator Probes Google's Investment in AI Rival Anthropic

The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is probing Google's investments in U.S. AI rival Anthropic. The CMA seeks comments to determine if the partnership lessens competition in the U.K. Anthropic, founded in 2021, has raised nearly $10 billion, with investments from Google and Amazon. The CMA is also examining similar investments by other tech giants. Interested parties have until August 13, 2024, to comment.
