New Access Points:
- Recommendations page in the Google Cloud console
- INFORMATION_SCHEMA views: INSIGHTS, RECOMMENDATIONS, and RECOMMENDATIONS_BY_ORGANIZATION
Integration with Active Assist:
- Provides recommendations to optimize BigQuery resource usage
- Uses machine learning and heuristics for recommendation generation
Available Recommenders:
- Partitioning and clustering recommender
- Materialized view recommender
- IAM recommender
Viewing Options:
- BigQuery Recommendation Hub
- Recommendation notifications in BigQuery Studio
- Active Assist Recommendation Hub for cross-service recommendations
How to Access
Users can view recommendations by:
- Going to the BigQuery page in the Google Cloud console
- Clicking "Recommendations" in the navigation menu
- Selecting specific recommendations for more details
Alternatively, users can access recommendations via the lightbulb notification in BigQuery Studio.
These new features are currently in preview, offering BigQuery users more tools to optimize their resource usage and improve performance.
